As an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Investigations Unit of the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, Lelia spent almost seven years working with federal and state investigators to conduct complex fraud investigations. She worked closely with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Office of the Inspector General and Postal Service to review documents and identify and interview witnesses. In 2012, she earned the Excellence Award in Investigations from the Council of Inspectors General in recognition of her teamwork and investigative excellence in furtherance of the Abbott Laboratories investigation. Lelia was part of the Virginia state team that worked with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia to lead the Abbott Laboratories investigation which resulted in a national $1.5 billion criminal and civil settlement.
