Litigation (This means that we represent you in court, asserting or defending your rights and interests.)
The lawyers at Winget-Hernandez, P.C. are litigators. We are both former assistant attorneys general with many years of experience in affirmative, complex, multi-district, multi-state litigation against the largest and most prestigious firms in the United States, and against defendants whose names are readily recognized by anyone who has ever watched the evening news. Michael has also spent many years defending lawsuits against large agencies and public officials.
We also have been parties to litigation. We had to go through the process finding and hiring lawyers, and we lived through the ups and downs, both emotional and financial, of litigation ourselves. It’s not fun and it rarely turns out exactly like you think it should.
The point that we are making here is that because we deeply understand the business of suing people and being sued, both as lawyers and clients, our approach to your legal problem may be a little different, in a good way. We understand what you are going through, and what you are facing up ahead. If you are thinking about suing someone, we know how to do that, but we won’t recommend it to you lightly. You can expect us to consider all the different angles, and to expect you to think about what you want to achieve, and whether a lawsuit will likely get you where you want to go. We also are prepared to discuss and recommend non-litigation resolutions to your issue (when appropriate). We will carefully help you weigh the pros and cons of each of your options and guide you to a course of action that best fits your needs, achieves your goals, and stays within your budget.
On the other hand, if you are already involved in a lawsuit, or you know you are going to be, we can help you move efficiently and effectively toward your goal. If you don’t really know what that is yet, we can help you figure that out, too.
We deeply understand the litigation process, which cuts across nearly every substantive area of law. So if it turns out that you need representation in a lawsuit, pick someone who has been to court. A lot.
